FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ZOO MEMBERSHIP
Q. Is a membership good for one year from the date of purchase or for one calendar year?
A. Memberships are good for one year from the date of purchase.
Q. Can anyone use my membership card?
A. No, only those named on the card can use the membership card. Members are asked to show a valid photo ID when entering the Zoo.
Q. Can I lend my membership card to a friend or family member?
A. No, memberships are nontransferable and are valid only for the person whose name appears on the card. Supporting photo ID is required for entrance.
Q. Do members receive a discount in the Charles Paddock Zoo Gift Shop?
A. Yes, there is a 10% discount for Members.
Q. What happens if I lose my Membership card?
A. There is a $3.00 replacement fee for a new card. You can receive a replacement card by calling the Zoo Society office at (805) 470-3182.
Q. Are children admitted with a Senior, Student or Individual Membership?
A. No, those membership levels are for adults only. However, member may purchase an additional child membership to be added to their membership.
Q. What happens if I come to the Zoo without my Membership card?
A. The cashier will ask to see a valid photo ID, and will then confirm your membership status. Please note that admission to the Zoo is delayed when you do not have your membership card with you.
Q. Why do I have to show photo ID when I use my membership card to enter the Zoo?
A. To prevent misuse of membership cards, we require that all named adult cardholders present photo ID upon entering the Zoo. We also want to protect our members should their cards be lost or stolen.
Q. When will I get my membership card?
A. Your membership card should arrive within 2 weeks from time of purchase. Please call 805-470-3182 if the card is not received in 2 weeks.
Q. Can I transfer my membership to someone else?
A. No, memberships are nontransferable and are valid only for the person whose name appears on the card.
Q. How does the Charles Paddock Zoo reciprocal program work?
A. As a Zoo member, you will receive free or discounted admission to more than 100 zoos and aquariums throughout the United States and Canada. A list of participating institutions is available at the ticket window.
Q. Is the Charles Paddock Zoo reciprocal with the San Diego Zoo or Monterey Bay Aquarium?
A. No, we are not reciprocal with either institution.
Q. What happens if I go to a reciprocal zoo without my current membership card?
A. You must have your membership card with you in order to be admitted to a reciprocal zoo under our reciprocity agreement. If you do not have your membership card with you, you will have to pay the regular admission fee.
Q. How can I keep up on Zoo events and news?
A. As a Zoo member, you will receive The Zoologic, our membership newsletter. You can also return to this website frequently at www.charlespaddockzoo.org and click on Events.
Q. What are the Zoo hours and prices?
A. Winter Hours: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Summer Hours: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Adults, 12 and over: $5.00
Youths, 3-11: $4.00
Seniors, 65+: $4.25
Kids under 3: Free
Members: Free
