The Central Coast Zoo Society office is open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and is located in the Atascadero Lake Park Ranger House just east of the Pavilion on the Lake.

The Charles Paddock Zoo is owned and operated by the City of Atascadero. The Central Coast Zoo Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation serving as a private support organization for the Charles Paddock Zoo. The Central Coast Zoo Society incorporated in 1971 and has been working in partnership with the Charles Paddock Zoo since that time.

The Central Coast Zoo Society operates the membership and animal sponsorship programs, the gift shop, coordinates publicity and promotions, and conducts fund development operations.
