Central Coast Zoo Society

Central Coast Zoo Society’s History and Mission

In 1962, the “Children’s Zoo Friendship Society” began with the first $100 donation, and evolved in to the "San Luis Obispo County Zoological Society" in 1967, and then the "Zoological Society of San Luis Obispo County". In 2008, the name has been changed to the "Central Coast Zoo Society" to more accurately reflect its geographical influence. The Central Coast Zoo Society supports the Charles Paddock Zoo as an area-wide attraction for the central coast community and visitors. It has established a shared partnership with the City of Atascadero and the Zoo Director in order to promote education, conservation, and the preservation of wildlife.

Central Coast Zoo Society’s Mission

The mission of the Central Coast Zoo Society is to support and promote the Charles Paddock Zoo, its exhibits, the educational and scientific programs, and the conservation and preservation of wildlife.
